Local artist Charles Allen has now
concluded his work with the groups at
the Centre. The ceramic wall panel is
complete and certainly captures the
spirit of the Winlaton community. It
depicts memories and recollections of
days gone by as well as what the
community means to residents today.
The artist worked with five groups over
a six week period capturing their
experiences, perceptions and memories
of the local community. From there each
member created a tile depicting what
the community meant to them. The tiles
were then fired and glazed and mounted
on a panel. There are five panels in
all, each representing the pages of a
book which spans a four hundred year
period. Past industries, buildings,
events and notable dignitaries are all
there, which captures the diverse
culture of this small community.
